Nitrogen isotopic discrimination as a biomarker of between-cow variation in the efficiency of nitrogen utilization for milk production: A meta-analysis

M. Correa-Luna et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the ability of nitrogen isotopic discrimination (Delta N-15) to predict the variability of nitrogen utilization efficiency for milk production (MNE) in dairy cows. The study found that Delta N-15 had limited ability to predict MNE in early lactation, but had accurate predictions in mid- and late lactation. However, the model had limitations in predicting MNE at the individual level.

Contribution of Ruminal Bacteriome to the Individual Variation of Nitrogen Utilization Efficiency of Dairy Cows

Min Li et al.

Summary: This study compares the rumen bacterial community in dairy cows with different nitrogen utilization efficiency. The results show that there are differences in rumen bacterial diversity and relative abundance among cows with different NUE, indicating that the rumen bacteriome plays an important role in nitrogen metabolism in dairy cows.

Summary: This study used comparative genome approaches to analyze 55 species in the genus Prevotella and found significant differences in phenotype, ecology, and function. Based on the integration of all results, it is proposed to reclassify the species previously assigned to the genus Prevotella into seven genera, with names proposed for four new genera.
