In-suit ion-imprinted bio-sorbent with superior adsorption performance for gallium(III) capture

Na Chai et al.

Summary: A superior persimmon peel-based imprinted material (Ga-IIP-PP-OP) with high adsorption capacity for gallium (III) ions was prepared by optimizing the synthesis conditions. The material exhibited a strong affinity for gallium (III) even in binary systems and showed significantly higher adsorption capacity compared to other reported gallium adsorbents. The enhanced adsorption performance was attributed to the electrostatic attraction and chelation between the material and gallium (III) ions. The results highlighted the potential of the optimized imprinted material for selective adsorption and efficient recovery of gallium (III).

Preparation of nitrogen-doped hierarchical porous carbon aerogels from agricultural wastes for efficient pollution adsorption

Peiyong Ma et al.

Summary: The development of green, economic and high-performance pollutant adsorption materials is important in meeting environmental challenges. In this study, aerogel-like N-doped hierarchical porous carbon materials (NHCs) were prepared from corn straw and urea using KHCO3 as the activator. The NHC-800 material showed excellent adsorption performance for methylene blue with a maximum adsorption capacity of 1009.6 mg/g. It also selectively and effectively removed organic pollutants while retaining metal ions.

Urea-assisted synthesis of biomass-based hierarchical porous carbons for the light hydrocarbons adsorption and separation

Xiancheng Ma et al.

Summary: A strategy for preparing hierarchical porous carbons derived from biomass and urea with tunable pore size distribution was proposed for the adsorption and separation of light hydrocarbons from mixed gas. The increase in urea content led to narrower pore size distributions but decreased surface area and total pore volume of the porous carbons. Different combinations of porous carbons exhibited varying capacities and selectivities towards different light hydrocarbons.

Design of nitrogen-phosphorus-doped biochar and its lead adsorption performance

Jing Pan et al.

Summary: The surface properties of adsorbents and the acidic environment impact the adsorption of Pb. To enhance the adsorption performance of biochar, a method of co-doping with nitrogen and phosphorus was introduced. The N/P co-doped biochar (NP-BC) exhibited improved adsorption capacity for Pb2+ ions. The synthesized NP-BC showed high adsorption capacity for Pb2+ ions in aqueous solutions, along with stability under various environmental factors. Surface functional groups were found to contribute significantly to the high adsorption performance of NP-BC.
