Time-domain signal analysis of dielectric response of nonlinear SDBD thruster in near space

Summary: This paper constructs a double layer lumped parameter circuit model and uses virtual instrument technology to build a test device for studying the energy loss of surface dielectric barrier discharge (SDBD) thruster. Through analysis of time domain signals, it is found that the response current in the discharge plasma region is mainly capacitive current, and relaxation planned loss is the main form of energy loss.

Analytical model for corona discharge-based electrohydrodynamic plasma actuator incorporating environmental conditions

Summary: This paper introduces a novel electrohydrodynamic (EHD) actuator system for near space vehicles, which produces thrust by ionizing and accelerating gas. An analytical model called EHD-AM is presented to estimate the thrust produced by EHD actuators in a wire-to-cylinder configuration. The model is validated with experimental data, and the effects of voltage and pressure on thrust are discussed.

Effect of dynamic permittivity in low-pressure environment on performance of surface dielectric barrier discharge ion wind thruster

Summary: The effect of the dynamic permittivity of different dielectric on the performance of an ion-wind thruster with surface dielectric barrier discharge was investigated in a low pressure environment. The results showed that the polarization intensity difference of materials and the space charge limiting current effect caused by plasma region have a significant influence on the performance of ion-wind thrusters. The study also found that the increase of frequency and dynamic permittivity affect parameters such as flow velocity, current, and position.
