Evaluation of the effect of glucocorticoid treatment on adrenocortical functions by monitoring endogenous hydrocortisone in horses

Mio Kikuchi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of dexamethasone and hydrocortisone, two glucocorticoid preparations, on adrenocortical function in horses. The results showed that both preparations suppressed adrenal function, with dexamethasone having a greater suppressive effect.

Analysis of circulating microRNA during early gestation in Japanese black cattle

K. Ono et al.

Summary: This study compared the circulating miRNAs in bred non-pregnant and pregnant Japanese Black cows, explored the potential of miRNAs as biomarkers for early pregnancy diagnosis, and established a measurement system for miRNA quantification in plasma. The results showed that miR-19b, miR-25, miR-29a, and miR-148a, which were present at high levels in the plasma of pregnant cows and less affected by hemolysis, could potentially be used as biomarkers for early pregnancy diagnosis in cattle.

MicroRNA-Based Diagnosis and Therapy

Phuong T. B. Ho et al.

Summary: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression and hold promise as biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis of diseases. This review discusses the intracellular and extracellular trafficking of miRNAs, their role as potential biomarkers, measurement methods, available panels for clinical use, and their potential as therapeutics.
