Slippery Liquid-Like Solid Surfaces with Promising Antibiofilm Performance under Both Static and Flow Conditions

Yufeng Zhu et al.

Summary: Biofilms are a major concern in various fields and the development of effective anti-biofilm strategies is crucial. This study presents the use of slippery omniphobic covalently attached liquid (SOCAL) surfaces as a stable antibiofilm strategy under shear stress. The SOCAL surface significantly reduces biofilm formation of key pathogens, offering a promising solution to biofilm-related issues in medical devices and other applications.

Study on the origin of linear deviation with the Beer-Lambert law in absorption spectroscopy by measuring sulfur dioxide

Linying Li et al.

Summary: According to the Beer-Lambert law, absorbance is proportional to the concentration and optical path length of the absorbers in the sample, but limitations in spectral resolution can lead to linear deviation from the law. This study verifies the relationship between spectral resolution, concentration, light intensity, and linear deviation from the Beer-Lambert law through measurements of sulfur dioxide at different concentrations using spectrometers with varying spectral resolutions.

Spray-Painted Hydrogel Coating for Marine Antifouling

Jiapeng Yang et al.

Summary: The article introduces a paintable antifouling hydrogel coating which, through the introduction of an epoxy midcoat layer, provides strong noncovalent adhesion to various surfaces and covalent linkages to hydrogel layers to achieve outstanding antifouling properties against various contaminants. This hydrogel coating degrades slowly in sea water and facilitates the release of fouling biomolecules and organisms, making it a promising solution for marine antifouling and other relevant fields due to its convenient coating processes and high adhesion strength.
