Three approaches to chiral form interactions

Oleg Evnin et al.

Summary: This article briefly reviews and compares three different approaches to construct Lagrangian theories of self-interacting Abelian chiral form fields with manifest Lorentz invariance. The first approach is based on the original ideas of Pasti, Sorokin, and Tonin and has been explored since the late 1990s. The second approach was introduced by Ashoke Sen in 2015. The third approach, known as the 'clone field' formalism, has been developed in recent years and shares the attractive features of the other two while avoiding their shortcomings.

A path integral for the chiral-form partition function

E. Andriolo et al.

Summary: This article evaluates the partition function of the compact chiral boson on a two-dimensional torus using a path-integral formulation. By employing a Wick-rotation procedure obtained from a complex deformation of the physical spacetime metric, the expected result including general characteristics for the theta functions is directly reproduced. The study also extends to the chiral 2-form potential in six dimensions and its application in 4k+2 dimensions.

Nonlinear (chiral) p-form electrodynamics

Zhirayr Avetisyan et al.

Summary: In our previous article, we introduced a novel Lagrangian formulation for general nonlinear electrodynamics in four dimensions. The expanded formalism covers interactions of higher form field theories in arbitrary dimensions, providing a broader class of interactions than previous attempts in the literature.

Covariant M5-brane action with self-dual 3-form

Pichet Vanichchapongjaroen

Summary: In this work, a theory describing a linearly self-dual exact 3-form field in six dimensional spacetime was extended to an action fully describing an M5-brane in the eleven-dimensional supergravity background. The obtained action has all required symmetries including kappa-symmetry. Although the derivation and proof of symmetries do not require explicitly expressing the action in terms of the original field contents, an initial attempt was made to do so.
