Azimuth measurement based on OAM phase spectrum of optical vortices

Liyuan Xu et al.

Summary: The optical vortex is a new type of structured light field that can measure the shape and angular orientation of a static object in optical remote sensing by carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM). In this paper, a method of target azimuth measurement based on OAM phase spectrum of optical vortices is proposed. By using the approximate duality relationship between the OAM phase spectrum and the azimuth, the azimuth of a single target or multiple targets can be accurately measured. The experimental results show that the measurement error is less than 2.5 degrees, and the inverse relationship between the OAM scanning range and azimuth resolution is verified with less than 0.3 degrees error.

Propagation of Airy beams in uniformly accelerated space

Fujin Wang et al.

Summary: This work investigates the self-accelerating characteristics and self-healing abilities of Airy beams in uniformly accelerated space. The study shows that the propagation of Airy beams in accelerated space speeds up for positive acceleration and slows down for negative acceleration. This result may have practical implications for exploring the behavior of light in different accelerated spaces.

Propagation of vortex symmetric Airy beam in the turbulent link

Yalin Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the performance of the vortex symmetric Airy beam (VSAB) propagating through turbulent link. The results show that the VSAB with small decaying factor, small transverse length scales and less topological charge has better turbulence resistance.

Virtual source for the fractional-order Bessel-Gauss beams

Lvbin Song et al.

Summary: The nonparaxial integral expression of fractional-order Bessel-Gauss (FBG) beams during propagation was rigorously derived using the virtual source technique and the principle of independent transmission and superposition of light, along with Weber integral formula and Fourier-Bessel transform pair. The analytic expression of the axial optical field amplitude and the on-axis intensity and phase of FBG beams were obtained and calculated. The calculated results quantitatively revealed important intensity information about the near-field propagation characteristic of FBG beams.

Beam Steering of Orbital Angular Momentum Vortex Waves With Spherical Conformal Array

Shixing Yu et al.

Summary: In this research, a spherical conformal antenna capable of beam steering OAM vortex waves with hemisphere coverage was designed, fabricated, and experimentally demonstrated. Theoretical analysis and experimental results confirmed the effectiveness and flexibility of generating hemispherical beam steering of OAM vortex waves. This proposed method can serve as a reference for OAM vortex communication with full space coverage.

Versatile metasurface platform for electromagnetic wave tailoring

Rui Feng et al.

Summary: The emergence of metasurfaces provides a new way to control the electromagnetic response of electromagnetic waves through the design of constituent meta-atoms. This study proposes a 2D reconfigurable reflective metasurface design in the microwave regime with continuous phase control capabilities, demonstrating potential for various microwave applications. By modulating voltage, complex beam generation such as Bessel beams and vortex beams can be achieved.
