Construction of novel polybenzoxazine coating precursor exhibiting excellent anti-corrosion performance through monomer design

Kamal I. Aly et al.

Summary: In this study, we synthesized 2-(Z)[(4-methylphenyl)imino]methylphenol (SA-Tol-SF) using salicylaldehyde (SA) and p-toluidine (Tol-NH2), which was then reduced to 2-[(4-methylphenyl)amino]methylphenol (SA-Tol-NH). SA-Tol-NH was further reacted with formaldehyde to create SA-Tol-BZ monomer. Poly(SA-Tol-BZ) was produced by thermally curing it at 210 degrees C. The anticorrosion attributes of MS coated with poly(SA-Tol-BZ) were examined using electrochemical characterization, showing an efficacy of 96.52% and hydrophobic properties.

Investigation of the phytochemical composition, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-osteoarthritis, and wound healing activities of selected vegetable waste

Mohamed A. Salem et al.

Summary: In this study, the researchers conducted a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of selected vegetable by-products, specifically potato, onion, and garlic peels. The results showed that onion peel extract had higher polyphenolic contents, good antioxidant activity, potential anti-osteoarthritis activity, and antimicrobial activity, particularly against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Moreover, onion peel extract exhibited promising wound healing activity and could be used as a natural by-product for future evaluation in the treatment of wounds and osteoarthritis.

Effect of temperature and water penetration on the interfacial bond between epoxy resin and glass fiber: A molecular dynamics study

Jun Xie et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the influence of temperature and water intrusion on the interfacial adhesions between epoxy resin and glass fiber in composite insulator strings. Molecular dynamics simulation is used to establish a molecular model of the epoxy resin/glass fiber interface under a water molecular environment. The results indicate that with increasing temperature, water molecules migrate to the interface and promote the degradation of the epoxy resin/glass fiber interface.

Synergistic effect of graphene oxide/ternary Mg-Al-La layered double hydroxide for dual self-healing corrosion protection of micro-arc oxide coating of magnesium alloy

Yanning Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to achieve and improve the dual self-healing and corrosion resistance properties of Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coatings. By incorporating ternary Mg-Al-La layered double hydroxides (LDHs) and graphene oxide (GO) into the coating, a hybrid coating with excellent anticorrosion ability and self-healing properties was formed. The coating exhibited strong barrier properties from GO and LDHs and was able to self-heal when exposed to corrosion ions, making it an effective corrosion protection material.
