An Efficient, Short Stimulus PANC-1 Cancer Cell Ablation and Electrothermal Therapy Driven by Hydrophobic Interactions

Maria P. Meivita et al.

Summary: Promising results have been shown in clinical studies using electrothermal agents (ETAs) in cancer therapy. However, a challenge lies in maintaining the balance between facilitating the degradation of ETAs and increasing electrothermal performance/stability. This study successfully controlled the thermal signature of MoS2 by utilizing MoS2 nanostructures with M13 phage (MNM) and developed a framework for cancer cell ablation and electrothermal therapy. The results demonstrated a decrease in cell viability, degradation time, and stimulus length, and molecular dynamics simulations provided insights into the structural origin of enhanced thermal conduction.

Molecularly Imprinted Polymers for the Determination of Cancer Biomarkers

Greta Pilvenyte et al.

Summary: Biomarkers are crucial in providing information about cancer and other diseases. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have recently been used in analytical systems to detect cancer biomarkers, such as prostate cancer (PSA), breast cancer (CA15-3, HER-2), ovarian cancer (CA-125), hepatocellular carcinoma (AFP), and small molecule cancer biomarkers (5-HIAA and neopterin). The determination of low concentrations of these biomarkers in complex matrices is challenging, but MIP-based biosensors have been employed for assessment. This article provides an overview of the MIP-based sensor creation principles, analytical signal determination methods, and suitable materials for each biomarker through comparing and discussing the results of reviewed biosensors.
