Dexamethasone induces ferroptosis via P53/SLC7A11/GPX4 pathway in glucocorticoid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head

Fei Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, the researchers used bioinformatic analysis and in vitro experiments to investigate the effect of ferroptosis on osteocytes in steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head. They found that glucocorticoids can induce ferroptosis in MC3T3-E1 cells by down-regulating the expression of SLC7A11. Furthermore, overexpression of SLC7A11 and the use of a ferroptosis inhibitor can reverse the ferroptosis induced by glucocorticoids. These findings provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms of glucocorticoid-induced osteonecrosis and suggest a potential treatment option for this condition.

The advances of post-stroke depression: 2021 update

Jianglong Guo et al.

Summary: Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a common and serious sequelae of stroke, affecting functional rehabilitation and quality of life, and strongly related to high mortality. Various factors contribute to the occurrence of PSD, and a unified mechanism to explain PSD is currently lacking. Treatment options include pharmacotherapy and psychological therapies, but there are still unresolved issues, especially regarding the mechanism of PSD.

STAT6 inhibits ferroptosis and alleviates acute lung injury via regulating P53/SLC7A11 pathway

Youjing Yang et al.

Summary: This study identified STAT6 as a critical regulator of epithelial ferroptosis during acute lung injury (ALI). STAT6 negatively regulates ferroptosis by competitively binding with CBP, inhibiting P53 acetylation and restoring SLC7A11 expression. Overexpression of STAT6 attenuated ALI-induced lung injury. STAT6 may be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of ALI.

Knockdown of Arginyl-tRNA Synthetase Attenuates Ischemia-Induced Cerebral Cortex Injury in Rats After Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: This study focused on knocking down the Rars gene in a rat model of permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion, revealing that the knockdown of arginyl-tRNA synthetase in the cerebral cortex exerts neuroprotective effects in ischemic stroke by improving oxidative stress, mitochondrial function, and glucose utilization.

Protective Effects and Network Analysis of Ginsenoside Rb1 Against Cerebral Ischemia Injury: A Pharmacological Review

Weijie Xie et al.

Summary: Ginseng Rb1 has significant neuroprotective effects on cerebral ischemic injury, with mechanisms involving antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic activities, as well as inhibition of excitotoxicity and Ca2(+) influx, preservation of blood-brain barrier integrity, and maintenance of energy metabolism. As a result, GRb1 has the potential to be a candidate drug for treating ischemic stroke.
