Recent Progress in Sensor Arrays: From Construction Principles of Sensing Elements to Applications

Tian Li et al.

Summary: Traditional sensors designed based on the lock-and-key strategy are not suitable for detecting multiple analytes simultaneously. Sensor arrays, aided by pattern recognition technologies, excel in distinguishing subtle changes caused by multitarget analytes with similar structures. This review focuses on the construction strategies and principles of sensing elements in sensor arrays, as well as their applications in identifying and detecting target analytes in various fields. The present challenges and further perspectives of sensor arrays are also discussed in detail.

Hazardous nitroaromatic explosives detection by emerging porous solid sensors

Jeong Hwa Song et al.

Summary: The detection of explosives, especially nitroaromatic compounds (NACs), is a crucial issue in anti-terrorism and homeland security. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been considered as promising materials for detecting NACs. However, existing reviews mainly focus on MOFs, and there is a lack of systematic review on emerging porous solids. This work provides a review of recent developments in porous materials for detecting explosive NACs.

Two luminescent film sensors constructed from new lanthanide coordination polymers for ratiometric detection of Zn2+ and NH3 in water and their white emission properties

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: Three 2D lanthanide coordination polymers with lumpy networks and excellent sensitizing properties to Eu3+ and Tb3+ were synthesized. Films of EuL/TbL and their PMMA hybrids were prepared for detecting Zn2+ and NH3 in a ratiometric mode. These materials not only enrich the ratiometric detection arsenal for Zn2+ and NH3, but also support the development of white emission film materials.

Two Eu3+ Based Complexes Containing Uncoordinated Lewis Basic Pyridyl Sites and Chemical Sensing of 4-Nitrophenol and Fe3+ ions

Ya-Nan Gu et al.

Summary: This study designed two pyridyl functionalized aromatic carboxylic acids as linkers to construct aggregation-induced emission active coordination polymers. Two complexes with open pyridyl active sites were successfully synthesized. Fluorescence studies showed that both complexes can quickly detect 4-nitrophenol and Fe3+ ions through luminescence quenching, with complex 1 exhibiting higher sensitivity and selectivity.

Cu2+ Ion Doping-Induced Self-Assembled ZnO-CuxO Nanostructures for Electrochemical Sensing of Hydrogen Peroxide and p-Nitrophenol

Siddarth Jain et al.

Summary: The development of controlled size and morphology oxide nanostructures is critical for their applications. In this study, a template-free synthesis approach was used to fabricate flower-like ZnO-CuxO nanostructures through a hydrothermal pathway. The nanoflowers were characterized and their formation was found to be influenced by metal counterions and the amount of water in the reaction medium. The nanoflowers demonstrated excellent electrochemical detection ability for p-nitrophenol and H2O2.
