Composite nanofibers electrospun from cerium, titanium, and zinc precursors

L. R. . Padilla et al.

Summary: Non-woven fibers containing cerium and zinc titanates were prepared using sol-gel and electrospinning methods. The fibers were characterized by various techniques and the results showed the presence of ceria fluorite nanocrystals and zinc oxide wurtzite phase at different temperatures. The nanofibers exhibited an increase in ceria nanocrystallite size with increasing calcination temperature, while the BET specific surface area decreased with higher temperatures. These fibers have potential applications in photocatalysis.

Influence of Calcination Temperature on Photocatalyst Performances of Floral Bi2O3/TiO2 Composite

Mingjun Wang et al.

Summary: Heterojunction photocatalytic materials, specifically the Bi2O3/TiO2 composite, demonstrate excellent catalytic and photocatalytic performance in the degradation of toxic pollutants. The calcination temperature plays a crucial role in influencing the crystallization, specific surface area, and electron-hole separation efficiency of the catalyst. A temperature of 450 degrees C was found to exhibit the highest degradation activity for the RhB pollutant.

Atomistic Insights into Lithium Storage Mechanisms in Anatase, Rutile, and Amorphous TiO2 Electrodes

Jodie A. Yuwono et al.

Summary: Density functional theory calculations were used to study phase transformations, Li+ diffusion, and charge-transfer reactions in LixTiO2. It was found that in amorphous TiO2, the energy barrier for Li+ diffusion decreases with increasing Li+ fraction, with longer Li-Ti and Li-O interactions having lower insertion energies and higher migration barriers. Amorphous TiO2 exhibits both surface and bulk storage mechanisms due to its disordered atomic arrangement and increased Li+ diffusivity at higher fractions.

Thermodynamic functions and vibrational properties of Li intercalation in TiO2(B)

J. Juan et al.

Summary: In this study, Li-doped TiO2(B) was modeled using density functional theory with Hubbard methodology to understand its vibrational and thermodynamic properties. The electronic structure analysis revealed metallic character and n-type behavior in lithium systems, along with charge transfer from Li to oxide. The vibrational properties studies discovered irreducible representations and phononic densities of the Li-TiO2(B) systems. Raman spectroscopy showed peak dispersion and displacement in doped systems, and thermodynamic studies indicated promising features for both doped systems, making them potential candidates for Li-ion battery anodes.

Facile synthesis of defected TiO2-x (B) nanosheet/graphene oxide hybrids with high photocatalytic H2 activity

Xiangchen Kong et al.

Summary: Ar plasma treatment was applied in this study to improve the photocatalytic performance of TiO2 (B) nanosheets/GO hybrids, leading to a 1.4 times increase in hydrogen evolution rate. The enhanced photocatalytic properties were attributed to the synergetic effects of oxygen vacancies and the heterojunction between GO and TiO2 (B), promoting visible light utilization and accelerating separation and transportation of photogenerated electron-holes. This research provides a simple pathway for preparing two-dimensional hybrid photocatalysts with high photocatalytic H-2 activity.
