This research investigates the influence of micelle charge and length on fluorescence performance, and finds that the fluorescence quantum yield is significantly enhanced with excellent thermal stability beyond the critical micellar concentration.
A water-insoluble pyrene derivative, prone to aggregation-caused quenching, regains fluorescence on micelle incorporation. This research explores micelle charge and length dependency by titrating the dye with cationic, anionic, and neutral micelles, revealing enhanced photoluminescence quantum yield (0.01 to 0.54) beyond the critical micellar concentration with excellent thermal stability. A water insoluble pyrene derivative, prone to aggregation-caused quenching, regains fluorescence on micelle incorporation with enhanced photoluminescence quantum yield.
