Column rougher flotation of fine niobium-bearing particles assisted with micro and nanobubbles

F. Capponi et al.

Summary: This study found that injecting micro and nano bubbles into the rougher column flotation pilot plant can enhance the recovery of Nb2O5. For the fine sample, the Nb2O5 recovery increased by 1.4% with the injection of bubbles. For the ultrafine sample, the Nb2O5 recovery increased by 4.8% and the concentrate grade improved by 30% with the injection of bubbles.

Effects of micro-/nanobubble on membrane antifouling performance and the mechanism insights

Kai Fan et al.

Summary: Micro-/nanobubbles (MNBs) technology can significantly improve the permeability and antifouling performance of membranes. The experimental results demonstrate that MNBs can delay flux attenuation and increase antifouling ability by 165.9%. The agglomeration effect of MNBs leads to larger size particles in the filtrate, preventing the adhesion of pollutants.

Dewatered and Stacked Mine Tailings: A Review

Erin Furnell et al.

Summary: This article introduces the concept of "stacked tailings" and its related research, addressing the inaccuracies in existing nomenclature and consolidating existing literature. The article discusses the definitions of dewatered and stacked tailings, opportunities and barriers to adoption, and the construction and operation of associated storage facilities. It also provides an overview of literature on geotechnical and geochemical topics relevant to tailings dewatering, and discusses emerging technologies that may be useful in scaling up this technology. The aim of the article is to provide a comprehensive background on the topic, identify gaps in the literature, and encourage further exploration of stacked tailings and tailings cake by providing a comprehensive list of sources.

Investigation on the effects of chemical pretreatment on the iron ore tailing dewatering

Hassan Mamghaderi et al.

Summary: Water plays a crucial role in mineral beneficiation, and dewatering the tailings from mineral processing plants is important. The study discussed the impact of chemical conditions on the filtration performance of iron ore tailings, with results showing that specific ions and anionic flocculants were effective. The research identified the optimal flocculant dosage and type, as well as the best pH level for filtration improvement.

Aggregates characterizations of the ultra-fine coal particles induced by nanobubbles

Liming Liu et al.

Summary: Particle aggregates induced by nanobubble bridging play an important role in improving the flotation performance of minerals. In this study, ultrasonic cavitation was utilized to produce stable nanobubbles, which enhanced the aggregation of ultra-fine coal particles with different hydrophobicity and improved the flotation performance. The presence of nanobubbles resulted in larger aggregates, new chain-like structures, and increased apparent viscosity and shear yield stress of the coal pulp, leading to significant improvements in both flotation recovery and kinetics of ultra-fine coal particles.
