A novel and lightweight wireless communication scheme for Vehicular Ad hoc Networks

Chaofan Di et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a lightweight communication scheme (LWCS) suitable for VANET, which includes a lightweight authentication scheme and a one-to-many wireless communication scheme. The authentication model is based on ECDLP and MAC, achieving mutual authentication and improving efficiency. The proposed scheme uses the Chinese remainder theorem (CRT) for one-to-many communication, allowing the receiver to quickly reconstruct the key without affecting the length of the ciphertext. Security analysis shows that the scheme is secure under the assumptions that IFP and ECDLP are intractable, and it satisfies multiple security requirements. Performance analysis demonstrates that the scheme is more efficient compared to related schemes.

Enabling an inter-operator roaming capability in LoRaWAN networks

Mohamed Hamnache et al.

Summary: LoRaWAN is a promising technology for connecting IoT devices, offering long-range communication, low cost, and low power consumption. However, mobility is still a major concern for LoRaWAN, as it can result in devices being out of coverage of their home operator. This paper proposes a novel roaming scheme for LoRaWAN based on DNS resolution and device context migration, which extends the LoRaWAN architecture while maintaining integrity of existing mechanisms and requiring minimal prior configuration. Experimental studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the solution in terms of context migration delay and other performance metrics.

Wireless communication protocols in smart agriculture: A review on applications, challenges and future trends

Ercan Avsar et al.

Summary: IoT based smart agriculture systems are crucial for efficient use of land, water, and energy resources. Wireless communication protocols play a vital role in these systems, and careful consideration of protocol features is required for optimal selection. This paper compares and analyzes five common IoT communication protocols, discussing their technical properties and practical applications. Cost, communication quality, and hardware issues are also addressed, along with trending technologies and leading protocols for future smart agriculture applications.

Multi-attribute assessment of a river electromobility concept in the Amazon region

Rosa Zuloeta Bonilla et al.

Summary: This study examines the water electro-mobility concept in the Amazon using the native communities in the Yarinacocha district in Peru as a case study. The MATE methodology is employed to identify stakeholders' objectives, generate designs, and evaluate them, focusing on technical, environmental, and economic sustainability. The research indicates that electric propulsion is competitive in this case study.
