Atomistic Structural Engineering of Conjugated Microporous Polymers Promotes Photocatalytic Biomass Valorization

Yuchen Yan et al.

Summary: The atomistic structural engineering of donor-acceptor polymer photocatalysts enhances charge separation and photocatalytic hydrogen production. Changing the electron affinity of the acceptor units allows for tuning of electron delocalization and exciton binding energy, resulting in improved efficiency. The optimized sample exhibits the highest H-2 production rate of 3207 mu mol g(-1) h(-1) when ascorbic acid is used as the sacrificial agent. Additionally, photocatalytic H-2 production can be coupled with near stoichiometric conversion of 5-hydroxymethyl furfural to 2,5-diformylfuran.

Han Wu et al.

Summary: Electrodes made of hierarchical and porous double-walled NiTeSe-NiSe2 nanotubes have been synthesized through a hydrothermal process assisted in situ selenization, which effectively shortens the ion diffusion length, decreases Na+ diffusion barriers, and increases the capacitance contribution ratio. As a result, the anode exhibits satisfactory initial capacity (582.5 mA h g(-1) at 0.5 A g(-1)), high-rate capability, and long cycling stability (1400 cycles, 398.6 mAh g(-1) at 10 A g(-1), 90.5% capacity retention). Furthermore, the sodiation process of the double-walled nanotubes and the mechanism behind the enhanced performance have been revealed through in situ and ex situ transmission electron microscopy and theoretical calculations.

Highly Crystalline Polyimide Covalent Organic Framework as DualActive-Center Cathode for High-Performance Lithium-Ion Batteries

Liyi Yao et al.

Summary: Polyimide covalent organic framework (PI-COF) materials are considered as emerging electrode materials for rechargeable devices. However, the highly crystalline PI-COFs with hierarchical porosity are less reported. In this study, a water-assistant synthetic strategy was developed to adjust the reaction rate of polyimidization, and PI-COF (COFTPDA-PMDA) with kgm topology was successfully synthesized with high crystallinity and porosity. The COFTPDA-PMDA possesses hierarchical micro-/mesoporous channels with the largest surface area in PI-COFs, which can promote the interaction between Li+ ions and TFSI- ions to increase the specific capacity of cathode materials. As a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, COFTPDA-PMDA@50%CNT showed high initial charge capacity and excellent cycling stability.
