The Role of Model Weighting Functions in the Gravity and DC Resistivity Inversion

Ramin Varfinezhad et al.

Summary: This article analyzes the inversion with the mostly used model weighting functions for both gravity and dc resistivity data, providing synthetic cases to discuss the pros and cons of each model-weighting function. The results show that the depth weighting and compacting factor play crucial roles in source reconstruction and faster convergence, particularly for dc resistivity data. The study confirms the effectiveness of depth weighting and compactness for modeling deep resistive sources in both synthetic and real dc resistivity cases.

Exploration of a Copper Ore Deposit in Elbistan/Turkey Using 2D Inversion of the Time-Domain Induced Polarization Data by Using Unstructured Mesh

Juliane Adrian et al.

Summary: This study presents the results of a survey exploring a copper ore deposit in Elbistan, Turkey, using direct current resistivity and time-domain induced polarization methods. By acquiring data on eight parallel profiles and interpreting them with a newly developed 2D DC/TDIP inversion algorithm, the researchers were able to detect a strong chargeability anomaly associated with the ore body. The study also demonstrates that chargeability anomalies can be detected in the absence of corresponding resistivity anomalies.
