Thermal assessment of solar concentrated system with utilizing CNT nanoparticles and complicated helical turbulator

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: The turbulent flow of nanomaterial (a mixture of CNT and water) within a circular tube of a solar system absorber was numerically simulated in this article. The tube was equipped with a complex swirl flow device to enhance fluid-wall interaction and achieve warmer fluid. Ten mirrors were used to concentrate solar radiation, and the geometric parameters were calculated to optimize optical performance. The simulation employed a K-epsilon model based on the finite volume method. The results showed that increasing the CNT fraction improved thermal performance, and changing the pitch ratio and flow rate had significant effects on friction factor and convective factor.

Effects of vertical coil springs on the performance of solar air heaters: Experimental study

M. Jovani et al.

Summary: Using extended surfaces or turbulators on the absorber plate can greatly enhance the thermal performance of solar air heaters. In this study, the use of vertical coil springs as turbulators is investigated. The results show that the heat transfer enhancement obtained using coil springs is often greater than the resulting pressure drop, leading to an overall improvement in performance.

Numerical investigation of solar system equipped with innovative turbulator and hybrid nanofluid

M. Sheikholeslami

Summary: This article investigates the use of horseshoe-shaped fins and perforated tape in a solar system to improve productivity and mixing efficiency. The selected modeling techniques were found to be suitable for turbulent flow based on the comparison with empirical data. The study shows that dispersing hybrid nano-powders can enhance heat absorption and thermal efficiency, but at the cost of increased pumping power.

Multi objective optimization of cylindrical shape roughness parameters in a solar air heater

Leila N. Azadani et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of discrete cylindrical shape roughness elements on the heat transfer and flow characteristics of a square duct solar air heater using Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations. By applying a multi-objective optimization algorithm, the optimal roughness parameters were determined to achieve the best thermo hydraulic performance.
