A novel pyrene-based fluorescent probe for Al3+detection

Yulong Liu et al.

Summary: Based on the classical Schiff base reaction, a fluorescent probe PAI was designed and synthesized through structural modification by introducing Schiff base structure to pyrene unit. The synthesized PAI was characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and HRMS. PAI is a turn-on probe with high selectivity for specific recognition of Al3+ ion, and has a lower limit of detection compared to many other reported probes. The addition of Al3+ ion breaks the carbon-nitrogen double bond of Schiff base in PAI, resulting in a product without PET property and exhibiting enhanced fluorescence and blue color. PAI can also recognize Al3+ ion through test papers, which is beneficial for future research on Al3+ ion sensing.

A Novel Pyridine and Julolidine Based Chemosensor for Al3+ Detection

Junzhu Zeng et al.

Summary: A chemosensor (L) based on pyridine and julolidine was designed and synthesized for the detection of Al3+ in ethanol solution. The emission intensity of L was enhanced by 85-fold in the presence of Al3+ by emitting bright green fluorescence. The recognition process of L was not significantly affected by other common cations. The detection limit for Al3+ was estimated to be 2.74x10(-8) M.

Fluorescent OFF-ON Sensors for the Detection of Sn2+ Ions Based on Amine-Functionalized Rhodamine 6G

Balamurugan Rathinam et al.

Summary: These structurally isomeric rhodamine 6G-based amino derivatives are designed for the detection of Sn2+ ions. They show rapid fluorescent turn-on responses towards Sn2+, with increased absorption and fluorescent intensity as the concentration of Sn2+ increases. The hydrazine derivative exhibits higher sensitivity towards Sn2+ compared to the ethylene diamine derivative, and the presence of carbonyl groups and terminal amino groups influences the sensitivity of the chemosensors through a spirolactam ring-opening mechanism. The receptors form 1:1 complexes with Sn2+ and have a limit of detection of 1.62 x 10(-7) M. The fluorescence images of the receptors and their complexes demonstrate their potential applications in the imaging of Sn2+ in real/online samples.

Gurjaspreet Singh et al.

Summary: A library of 2-Amino-4-chlorophenol-based organosilanes were designed and synthesized, and silica nanoparticles loaded with these organosilanes were successfully synthesized. It was found that these organosilanes exhibited selective binding to Cu2+ ions, and the binding could be detected through color and fluorescence changes. The mechanism of the binding and the interaction with a blue copper protein were investigated, providing insights for the design of more potent organosilane analogs.
