Prognostic Value of Entropy Derived from Late Gadolinium Enhancement Images to Adverse Cardiac Events in Post-Myocardial Infarction Patients

Lujing Wang et al.

Summary: The prognostic value of entropy derived from late gadolinium enhancement images on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) for major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in post-myocardial infarction (MI) patients was explored. Results showed that the MACE group had higher entropy values compared to the No-MACE group. Specifically, border zone entropy (BZ entropy) and infarct core and peri-infarct border zone entropy (IBZ entropy) were found to be better risk stratification parameters.

Entropy as a Measure of Myocardial Tissue Heterogeneity in Patients With Ventricular Arrhythmias

Panagiotis Antiochos et al.

Summary: The assessment of myocardial entropy using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has independent prognostic value for patients with ventricular arrhythmias (VAs), offering additional predictive information on top of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and late gadolinium enhancement. Evaluating LV entropy can assist risk stratification in patients without myocardial scar or with nonsustained VAs.

T1 Mapping and Extracellular Volume Fraction in Dilated Cardiomyopathy A Prognosis Study

Shuang Li et al.

Summary: This study examines the prognostic value of T1 mapping and the extracellular volume (ECV) fraction in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). The results showed that T1 mapping and ECV fraction have prognostic value in DCM patients, particularly in those without late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). Combining T1 mapping, ECV fraction, and LGE provides optimal risk stratification for DCM patients.

Mean Scar Entropy by Late Gadolinium Enhancement Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Is Associated With Ventricular Arrhythmias Events in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Yang Ye et al.

Summary: The study found that scar entropy and %LGE are both independent risk indicators of ventricular arrhythmias in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients. A high scar entropy may indicate an arrhythmogenic scar, which could be valuable for clinical assessment of ventricular arrhythmias in these patients.

Clinical Risk Prediction in Patients With Left Ventricular Myocardial Noncompaction

Guillem Casas et al.

Summary: This study confirmed the association of LVNC with an increased risk of heart failure and ventricular arrhythmias, with left ventricular ejection fraction being the variable most strongly associated with MACE. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) confers additional risk in patients without severe systolic dysfunction. A risk prediction model was developed and validated in order to guide management.
