Magnetic field enhancement of electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction probed by magneto-optics

Olga Sambalova et al.

Summary: External magnetic fields can influence electrochemical processes and enhance the efficiency of water splitting reactions, but the driving forces behind this phenomenon are still unclear. A setup based on magneto- and electro-optical probing allows for real-time comparison of the magnetic properties of electrodes and current densities. In some cases, magnetic fields affect the electrochemical double layer, altering the local concentration gradient of hydroxide ions.

Advances and Challenges in Industrial-Scale Water Oxidation on Layered Double Hydroxides

Andraz Mavric et al.

Summary: This article discusses the development of efficient electrolyzers made of earth-abundant elements for low-temperature industrial-scale water electrolysis, focusing on the impact of active metal sites, structure, and composition on reaction kinetics as well as the current density issues of LDHs. Moreover, it introduces the degradation mechanism of LDHs in oxidative alkaline environments and approaches to stabilize the overall performance of LDHs.

Mechanism of Nickel-Iron Water Oxidation Electrocatalysts

Jibo Zhang et al.

Summary: This study discusses the active sites in nickel-iron water oxidation electrocatalysts, suggesting that iron is a likely candidate for highly active materials whereas nickel is likely not the active site for water oxidation electrocatalysis. The conclusion is supported by three-fold arguments based on electrochemical measurements.

Systematic and collaborative approach to problem solving using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

Neal Fairley et al.

Summary: The methodology presented in this work is a result of interactions between junior and senior XPS users within the CasaXPS framework, particularly through workshops organized by IMN. The discussions from these workshops have been instrumental in developing the XPS data processing concept and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration in surface analysis problem-solving. This methodology has evolved over subsequent workshops and now represents the philosophy used in CasaXPS spectral data processing paradigm.
