An Old Crystallization Technique as a Fast, Facile, and Adaptable Method for Obtaining Single Crystals of Unstable Li2TCNQF4 and New Compounds of TCNQ or TCNQF4: Syntheses, Crystal Structures, and Magnetic Properties

SlavomiIra Sterbinska et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared crystals of TCNQ and TCNQF(4) compounds using a horizontal diffusion technique, and analyzed their structures using X-ray diffraction. The magnetic studies revealed that compounds 1 and 2 exhibit strongly antiferromagnetic coupling, while compound 3 showed a one-dimensional ribbon structure. Compound 1 also exhibited ferromagnetic exchange coupling between Ni-(II) sites and anion radicals.

Reduction-Responsive Supramolecular Sheets for Selective Regulation of Facultative Anaerobe Agglutination

Dawoon Lee et al.

Summary: This study reports the assembly of supramolecular sheets through charge-transfer interactions and demonstrates their reduction-responsive behavior. The intact sheet structure promotes bacterial agglutination in an anaerobic environment, inhibiting bacterial growth. In contrast, in an aerobic environment, the sheet disassembles, enabling continuous bacterial growth. This study presents a novel supramolecular material for selective regulation of bacterial growth based on the external environment.

Temperature-dependent dimerization of TCNQ anion-radical in [Ni (bpy)3]2(TCNQ-TCNQ)(TCNQ)2•6H2O: Single-crystal structure, magnetic and quantum chemical study

Slavomira Sterbinska et al.

Summary: The crystal structure of [Ni(bpy)(3)](2)(TCNQ-TCNQ)(TCNQ)(2)center dot 6H(2)O was studied at different temperatures, revealing a change in the dimerization proportion and a shortened distance between anion radicals at low temperatures. Quantum chemical calculations and magnetic studies further support these findings.

Highly stable and isomorphic donor-acceptor stacking in a family of n-type organic semiconductors of BTBT-TCNQ derivatives

Satoshi Matsuoka et al.

Summary: In this study, we present the common structural features of semiconducting molecular donor-acceptor (DA) compounds based on alkylated fused-ring thienoacenes. Crystal structure analyses and density functional theory calculations were conducted to investigate the intermolecular forces between pi-electron cores along the DA stacks. The dominant intermolecular attraction was found to be dispersion interactions, while the short-range orbit-orbit interaction was always repulsive. These findings provide insights into the search for and exploration of unique combinations of molecules with superior semiconducting characteristics.

Heteroleptic complexes of Ni(II) with 2,2′-bipyridine and benzoato ligands. Magnetic properties of [Ni(bpy)(Bz)2]

Lenka Kresakova et al.

Summary: Seven complexes have been synthesized from the Ni(II) - HBz - bpy system under various experimental conditions and were characterized chemically and spectroscopically. X-ray structure analysis revealed hexacoordinated Ni(II) atoms in all complexes. Magnetic studies showed single-ion anisotropy in complex 1, with theoretical calculations confirming the influence of rhombic anisotropy.
