An Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization Technique to Deploy the IoT Services in Fog-enabled Networks: An Autonomous Approach

Mahboubeh Salimian et al.

Summary: The Internet of Things generates large amounts of data, which are mainly processed in cloud data centers. However, transferring data to the cloud over longer distances leads to latency in IoT services. To address this, a new paradigm called Fog Computing has been introduced, which provides storage and computing closer to IoT devices. This approach offers lower latency and better quality of service for real-time applications. Despite the theoretical foundations already being presented, the problem of IoT services placement to fog nodes remains challenging. In this paper, a conceptual computing framework based on fog-cloud control middleware is proposed to optimize IoT services placement using an automated evolutionary approach. Experimental studies show that the proposed framework outperforms existing methods.
