Impact of ZnO on C3S hydration and C-S-H morphology at early ages

Xuerun Li et al.

Summary: The hydration process of ZnO-doped C3S and its effects were investigated. The study found that appropriate amounts of ZnO can promote the hydration of C3S, increase the degree of hydration and compressive strength, and changes in the chemical composition of C-S-H from early stages to later stages were observed.

Effect of a novel starch-based temperature rise inhibitor on cement hydration and microstructure development: The second peak study

Yu Yan et al.

Summary: The temperature rise inhibitor modifies the exothermic process of cement hydration and mitigates the buildup of cumulative heat to solve the thermal cracking issue. The second peak in heat release is mainly attributed to C3S hydration and the ongoing precipitation of ettringite helps to eliminate the restriction on C-S-H nucleation.

Effect of a liquid-type temperature rise inhibitor on cement hydration

Yu Yan et al.

Summary: The liquid-type temperature rise inhibitor (L-TRI) based on modified sorbitol was developed to modulate heat release from cement hydration and prevent thermal cracking. Testing results showed that L-TRI prolonged the induction period and reduced maximum heat flow, effectively inhibiting thermal cracking caused by cement hydration.

Influence of foreign ions on calcium silicate hydrate under hydrothermal conditions: A review

Hongwei Tian et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the hydration process of cementitious materials under hydrothermal conditions, focusing on the influence of foreign ions and Ca/Si ratio on hydration kinetics. It emphasizes the significant impact of chemical and mineralogical compositions of SCMs on the types and properties of hydrates.
