Lysinibacillus spp.: an IAA-producing endospore forming-bacteria that promotes plant growth

Manuel Pantoja-Guerra et al.

Summary: Lysinibacillus strains have shown potential as mosquitocidal and bioremediation agents, and recent research has also highlighted their role as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). This study provides evidence of the PGP activity of Lysinibacillus spp., specifically through the production of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). The strains tested showed varying levels of IAA production and their culture filtrates had an auxin-like effect on plant growth.

Diversity of duckweed (Lemnaceae) associated yeasts and their plant growth promoting characteristics

Napapohn Kajadpai et al.

Summary: The diversity of duckweed associated yeasts was studied in this research. 252 yeast strains were isolated from 53 duckweed samples collected from 16 provinces in Thailand. The majority of yeast species were Ascomycota and Basidiomycota. The most prevalent species was Papiliotrema laurentii. The study revealed high species diversity and evenness among species in the yeast community on duckweed. This research also demonstrated that the isolated yeasts have potential for plant growth promotion with the production of indole-3-acetic acid, siderophores, and phosphate solubilization activity.

Diversity of Endophytic Yeasts from Agricultural Fruits Positive for Phytohormone IAA Production

Aleksey Kachalkin et al.

Summary: This study reports the diversity of cultivable endophytic yeasts from agricultural fruits that respond positively to the plant-promoting property of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) production. The most active endophytic yeast strains belonged to several species. The results suggest that the internal tissues of fruits may be a promising source for the isolation of plant-beneficial yeasts that can be used to promote plant growth.
