Investigation of the Performance of Heterogeneous MOF-Silver Nanocube Nanocomposites as CO2 Reduction Photocatalysts by In Situ Raman Spectroscopy

Jian-Jia Liu et al.

Summary: Here, two different heterogeneous nano composites, core-shell MOF-AgNC and corner MOF-AgNC, were synthesized as photo catalysts for CO2 conversion. These nano composites showed good CO2 adsorption features and high CO2 reduction reactivity. The performances of these nano composites in CO2 adsorption and reduction reactions were characterized using in situ Raman spectrum measurement, and the results showed that the corner MOF-AgNC exhibited a faster CO2 adsorption rate and the CO2 reaction reactivity and mechanisms depended on the morphologies of the nanocomposites.

Investigation of Congo Red Toxicity towards Different Living Organisms: A Review

Sharf Ilahi Siddiqui et al.

Summary: The use of dyes in various industries has led to their presence in water and food sources consumed by humans, animals, and plants. Many of these dyes, which are complex aromatic structures, have been found to be harmful. Congo red dye, a commonly used dye based on benzidine, may have toxic metabolites but is not always harmful itself. This review provides an overview of the toxicity of Congo red dye in different living organisms, focusing on its mutagenic, teratogenic, and carcinogenic effects, as well as discussing the mechanisms of azo dyes' carcinogenicity. It is a valuable resource for researchers studying the harmful effects of Congo red in terms of genotoxicity, teratogenicity, mutagenicity, and carcinogenicity factors.

Green hybrid photocatalyst containing cellulose and γ-Fe2O3-ZrO2 heterojunction for improved visible-light driven degradation of Congo red

Helmiyati Helmiyati et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel bimetal-biopolymer nanocomposite of cellulose/gamma-Fe2O3-ZrO2 was efficiently synthesized and its photocatalytic behavior was investigated. The cellulose/gamma-Fe2O3-ZrO2 nanocomposite showed higher photodegradation efficiency of Congo red under visible light compared to other materials, demonstrating good photocatalytic activity.

Unsymmetrical Heterogeneous Au-Ag Nanocrystals as Catalysts, Sensors, and Drug Carriers

Wei-Liang Jhang et al.

Summary: The team overcame the limitations of solution-based synthetic methods by fixing nanocrystals on a polymer film, leading to unsymmetric heterogeneous nanocrystals. For example, placing silver nanocubes on a polystyrene film in an Au3+-ion solution resulted in unique flower-like, mushroom-like, and half-cage-like Au-Ag nanocrystals with potential applications as catalysts, sensors, and drug carriers.
