Household cooking evaluation for pesticide reduction in brown rice samples. Microwave cooking optimization

Maria Belen Medina et al.

Summary: Four different household cooking methods of brown rice were evaluated, with microwave cooking method found to be the most effective in pesticide reduction. A chromatographic method using modified QuEChERS was validated for the determination of five commonly used pesticides in rice. Analysis of 60 brown rice samples revealed the presence of pirimiphos-methyl and tebuconazole in some samples.

Residue changes and processing factors of eighteen field-applied pesticides during the production of Chinese Baijiu from rice

Aijuan Bai et al.

Summary: The fate of eighteen pesticides in field-collected rice samples during Chinese Baijiu production was studied comprehensively. Steeping and steaming were found to reduce pesticide residues significantly, while distillation was the most effective in removing remaining residues. Processing factors were generally lower than 1, indicating a dramatic decrease in pesticide residues across the entire production process.
