Gallstone Disease and Bacterial Metabolic Performance of Gut Microbiota in Middle-Aged and Older Patients

Doina Georgescu et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to explore the metabolic performance of gut bacterial species in middle-aged and elderly patients with gallstone disease (GSD) and their clinical background. The results showed that patients with GSD had a higher range of overall gut dysbiosis compared to healthy controls. Specifically, patients with cholesterol gallstones displayed significant clinical differences related to age, lifestyle, diet, obesity, metabolic issues, and gallbladder motility problems.

Different disease characteristics in young patients with colorectal cancer: a large retrospective study in a city in Romania

Adelina Gheju et al.

Summary: Younger patients with CRC are more likely to present with advanced disease, and the global incidence of CRC among younger adults is increasing. Monitoring the incidence of CRC in younger adults is essential to assess whether changes are needed in screening practices and to raise awareness among clinicians of the increasing incidence of CRC among younger patients.
