A Novel Extraction Procedure of Contact Characteristic Parameters from Current-Voltage Curves in CdZnTe and CdTe Detectors

Fabio Principato et al.

Summary: The estimation of characteristic parameters of electrical contacts in CdZnTe and CdTe detectors is important for identifying dominant transport mechanisms. The interfacial layer-thermionic-diffusion (ITD) theory is commonly used for modeling current-voltage (I-V) curves, incorporating thermionic emission, diffusion, and interfacial layer theories. Implementing the ITD model in measured I-V curves requires simplifications, fitting parameters, and identification of voltage ranges for each transport mechanism. This work presents a novel method using a differentiation function of experimental I-V curves to estimate characteristic parameters of the metal-semiconductor interface in CdZnTe and CdTe detectors, including barrier height and interfacial layer effects.

Characterization of High-Flux CdZnTe with optimized electrodes for 4th generation synchrotrons

O. Baussens et al.

Summary: In this collaborative study, the potential of Redlen Technologies' HF-CZT material for direct X-ray detection at different fluxes was explored. The HF-CZT single crystals with optimized electrodes showed low leakage current under dark conditions and good linearity under different incident X-ray fluxes. The material also exhibited good stability and reproducibility at high incident X-ray fluxes. Fast stabilization time and negligible afterglow were observed in the seconds time range.

Effects of deep-level traps on the transport properties of high-flux X-ray CdZnTe detectors

Yingrui Li et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of deep-level traps on carrier transport properties in CdZnTe detectors, uncovering characteristics associated with better photon counting performance. CdZnTe detectors with larger (mu tau)h and smaller (mu tau)e exhibit superior performance, with implications for X-ray dose tolerance and detection efficiency. The presence of specific deep-level traps and trap characteristics are identified through TSC and i-DLTS analyses, offering insights into the relationship between trap types and detector performance.

Bias-induced relaxation phenomena in current temporal behaviors of CdZnTe radiation detectors

Jingyi Yu et al.

Summary: The bias-induced temporal behavior of dark current in CdZnTe radiation detectors is affected by the Schottky barrier height, with detectors having smaller barrier heights experiencing an increase in transient current while those with larger barrier heights see a decrease. The current saturation process is attributed to the de-trapping of deep level defects.
