Resilience-performance trade-offs in managing social-ecological systems

Summary: This article investigates governance policies focusing on resilience in social-ecological systems facing rapid social and environmental changes. Through a mathematical model and the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation, the measurement and optimization of system resilience are analyzed. The results show differences between policies that maximize performance and resilience, and managing resilience requires being more responsive to external changes.
