Evolution of NOMA Toward Next Generation Multiple Access (NGMA) for 6G

Yuanwei Liu et al.

Summary: Due to the growth in wireless devices and services, next generation wireless networks face unprecedented challenges. Advanced multiple access schemes, particularly non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), are being explored as a solution. This paper discusses the evolution of next generation multiple access (NGMA) and the potential techniques and mathematical tools involved.

Next-Generation Multiple Access Based on NOMA With Power Level Modulation

Xinyue Pei et al.

Summary: To address the anticipated explosive traffic growth in next-generation wireless networks, it is crucial to design next-generation multiple access techniques that can offer higher spectral efficiency and larger-scale connectivity. Power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has garnered widespread attention as a promising solution. However, conventional power-domain NOMA may limit the spectral efficiency under practical finite alphabet inputs. To overcome this limitation, we propose power selection (PS)-NOMA, inspired by the concept of spatial modulation, which encodes extra information bits into power levels and utilizes different signal constellations to distinguish between users. Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of PS-NOMA over conventional NOMA in terms of bit error rate (BER) and achievable rate.

Subcarrier and Power Allocation in OFDM-NOMA VLC Systems

Geyang Wang et al.

Summary: A novel subcarrier and power allocation method is proposed to improve both the throughput and user fairness in OFDM-NOMA VLC systems, considering practical constraints such as bandwidth limitation and quality of service. The algorithm, based on a log utility function, shows significant improvements in throughput and fairness compared to conventional power allocation methods.

Subcarrier-User Assignment in Downlink NOMA for Improving Spectral Efficiency and Fairness

Mohammed Abd-Elnaby et al.

Summary: This paper proposes two subcarrier-user assignment algorithms for downlink NOMA system to improve spectral efficiency, fairness, weak user data rate, and outage probability. Simulation results show significant improvement in total spectral efficiency, weak user data rate, outage probability, and user fairness compared to existing algorithms. Strong users are assigned before weak users to increase the overall system sum-rate.
