Characterization of the Binding Properties of Sorafenib to c-MYC G-Quadruplexes: Evidence for Screening Potential Ligands

Wen Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, the interaction mechanism between Sorafenib (Sor) and c-MYC Gquadruplexes (G4) was investigated using computer-aided means and experiments. The results showed that Sor binds to the groove of G4 and has a lower affinity for G4 compared to traditional G4 ligands. The research may inspire the screening of new selective c-MYC G4 ligands and the design of drugs with good stability, low toxicity, and specific targeting of G4.

Molecular dynamics simulation of the interaction of food proteins with small molecules

Xia Hu et al.

Summary: Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation has been increasingly used to investigate the mechanisms of interactions and conformational relationships between food proteins and other food compounds. It allows for a better understanding of the structural changes at the molecular level. In the future, visualization models established by MD simulation may provide deeper insights into the molecular changes in food proteins and small molecules. This review provides an overview of the development and software, as well as the current applications of MD simulation in the field of food protein research.

Study on the interaction between nimodipine and five proteinases and the effects of naringin and vitamin C on these interactions by spectroscopic and molecular docking methods

Xianxin Meng et al.

Summary: The interaction mechanisms of nimodipine with pepsin, trypsin, a-chymotrypsin, lysozyme and human serum albumin were investigated. Nimodipine quenched the intrinsic fluorescence of these proteinases through a static quenching procedure, and it mainly bound to the proteinases through hydrogen bonding, van der Waals forces, and hydrophobic interactions. Vitamin C and naringin were found to reduce the binding constant of nimodipine to the proteinases, potentially increasing the concentration of free nimodipine.

Protein-polyphenol functional ingredients: The foaming properties of lactoferrin are enhanced by forming complexes with procyanidin

Changhong Li et al.

Summary: After mixing procyanidin with lactoferrin, solution turbidity and intrinsic fluorescence quenching increased, while surface hydrophobicity of lactoferrin was reduced. This binding interaction led to significant changes in the structure of both polyphenol and protein, with thermodynamic analysis indicating spontaneous interaction mainly driven by entropy changes.

Influence of antioxidant flavonoids quercetin and rutin on the in-vitro binding of neratinib to human serum albumin

Tanveer A. Wani et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction of neratinib with human serum albumin in the presence of flavonoids quercetin and rutin, finding that the flavonoids can compete with neratinib to bind to HSA. The study also observed changes in the binding constants of HSA-NRB in the presence of quercetin and rutin, indicating an impact on the binding of NRB.

Adherence to healthy food choices during the COVID-19 pandemic in a US population attempting to lose weight

Ellen S. Mitchell et al.

Summary: This study analyzed data from a digital behavior change weight loss program to examine changes in food choices among a U.S. population during the beginning of the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. The results showed a decrease in intake of fresh fruit and vegetables, and an increase in red meat and starchy vegetables. Differences in food choices were observed based on age and gender, highlighting the importance of understanding how food preferences may shift during times of crisis.
