Size effect of gold nanoparticles in bimetallic ZIF catalysts for enhanced photo-redox reactions

Weian Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the photocatalytic activity of Au@ZIF-Co/Zn for treating Rhodamine B/Cr(VI) mixture solutions and 4-nitrophenol solution under visible light. It is found that the size of gold nanoparticles significantly affects the surface plasmon resonance effect, internal electron transfer capacity, and carrier density change. The charge-transfer photocatalytic mechanism and size influence of gold nanoparticles in composite photocatalysts are revealed through photoelectric chemistry experiments and radical quenching experiments.

Visual/quantitative SERS biosensing chip based on Au-decorated polystyrene sphere microcavity arrays

Jianli Sun et al.

Summary: A microfluidic chip was developed for visual and quantitative sensing of the biomarker EBV IgG. The chip utilized TMB chromogenic unit and Raman detection unit for detection. By integrating a polystyrene/Au nanoparticles (PS/AuNPs) microsphere arrays and signal probes, the chip achieved amplification of initial SERS signal and provided accurate Raman signals for point-of-care testing. The chip demonstrated a wide dynamic linear range and low detection limit, making it a powerful tool for early cancer diagnosis.

Monitoring Amyloidogenesis with a 3D Deep-Learning-Guided Biolaser Imaging Array

Kok Ken Chan et al.

Summary: The study developed a peptide-encapsulated droplet microlaser to monitor the amyloidogenesis process and evaluate the effectiveness of anti-amyloid drugs. By extracting information from laser images, the progression of the amyloidogenesis process can be monitored using arrays of laser images from microdroplets. The results demonstrate the great potential of peptide microlasers for protein misfolding studies and high-throughput imaging of cavity biosensing.

Motor-like microlasers functioning in biological fluids

Ziyihui Wang et al.

Summary: Microlasers integrated with biological systems have gained significant attention as a powerful tool for studying complex dynamics and interactions in scattered biological micro-environments. In this study, motor-like microlasers formed by magnetic-doped liquid crystal droplets were introduced, allowing control over the direction and velocity of the microlasers by altering internal magnetic nanoparticles or external magnetic fields. Translational and rotatory motions of the lasing resonator could be continuously changed in real-time. Lasing-encoded motors with different functions and wavelengths were also achieved. The motor-like microlasers demonstrated their potential as a localized stimulation emission light source for stimulating or illuminating living cells, providing a novel approach for switching on/off light emissions and subcellular imaging.
