Protective effect and mechanism of ginsenoside Rg2 on atherosclerosis

Qianqian Xue et al.

Summary: Ginsenoside Rg2 inhibits the expression of inflammatory factors in vascular smooth muscle cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells by blocking the NF-KB and p-ERK signaling pathways. Moreover, Rg2 can also suppress the proliferation, migration, and phenotypic transformation of vascular smooth muscle cells induced by platelet derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB), and reduce intimal proliferation and regulate inflammatory pathways in a rat carotid balloon injury model.

Role of OSCAR Signaling in Osteoclastogenesis and Bone Disease

Iva R. Nedeva et al.

Summary: Formation of mature bone-resorbing cells through osteoclastogenesis is essential for bone tissue remodeling and repair, but aberrations in this process can lead to excessive bone degradation in aging and disease. While RANK interaction with RANKL is the main pathway for osteoclastogenesis, additional co-stimulatory signals, such as OSCAR, may be necessary for the expression of osteoclast-specific genes and the activation of osteoclasts.
