Thermal and Waterproof Properties of Foamed Concrete with Nano SiO2 Aerogel and Organosilicon Waterproofing Agent

Baojun Cheng et al.

Summary: This study aimed to enhance the thermal and waterproof properties of foamed concrete through the synergistic effect of nano SiO2 aerogel powder and organosilicon waterproofing agent. The results showed that the organosilicon waterproofing agent reduced the dry bulk density, compressive strength, water absorption rate, and thermal conductivity of foamed concrete. Furthermore, the addition of nano SiO2 aerogel powder further decreased the water absorption rate and thermal conductivity, while increasing the average pore size and the amount of macropore, and weakening the interfacial adhesion between hydration products.

Recent progress on polyimide aerogels against shrinkage: a review

Weiwang Chen et al.

Summary: Polyimide aerogels hold great promise for various applications due to their nanoporous structure and excellent performance in thermal insulation and dielectric protection. However, the significant shrinkage they typically experience poses a major challenge for their shape-stable preparation and reliable use. Understanding the factors influencing the shrinkage of PI aerogels and finding effective strategies to reduce it is crucial. This review focuses on providing guidance for preparing PI aerogels with significantly reduced shrinkage, thereby improving their shape stability and reliability. Further research on shrinkage reduction in PI aerogels deserves continuous attention.

Influence of diamine rigidity and dianhydride rigidity on the microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties of cross-linked polyimide aerogels

Shuang Xi et al.

Summary: Polyimide aerogels (PAs) prepared with different monomers and cross-linked with a low-cost aminosilane show that the rigidity of diamine and dianhydride has a significant impact on the microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties of PAs. Increasing rigidity of diamine or dianhydride leads to higher Young's modulus and yield strength. PAs synthesized with more flexible diamines tend to have a more disordered microstructure and lower thermal conductivity.

Properties improvement of linear polyimide aerogels via formation of doubly cross-linked polyimide-polyvinylpolymethylsiloxane network structure

Ze Zhang et al.

Summary: The properties of linear polyimide aerogels were enhanced by introducing the network structure of polyvinylpolymethylsiloxane, resulting in doubly cross-linked polyimide-PVPMS structure with resilience and fire-retardant properties. The introduced PVPMS network structure weakened the effect of PI rigidity on LPAs, and played a significant role in the physical properties of PPCAs, allowing for the use of lower cost monomers in large-scale production.
