Mathematics Students' Coping Behaviour, Happiness, and Self-efficacy in the New Normal: Correlation and K-means Cluster Analysis

Leomarich F. Casinillo

Summary: Students in distance education are expected to have low levels of happiness in learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this study found that students still demonstrated moderate levels of coping behaviour, happiness, and self-efficacy in learning mathematics. The results highlighted the importance of combining coping behaviour, happiness, and efficacy to achieve positive learning outcomes during the health crisis. Mathematics teachers should encourage student engagement in the classroom to enhance their overall well-being.

Sexual behaviours associated with incident high-risk anal human papillomavirus among gay and bisexual men

Comparison of four assays for human papillomavirus detection in the anal canal

I. Mary Poynten et al.

Summary: This study compared the sensitivity and specificity of four anal canal swab HPV assays to predict high-grade squamous epithelial lesions (HSIL) in a cohort of Australian HIV-positive and negative gay and bisexual men. The results showed that Anyplex II HPV28 and EuroArray had higher sensitivity for detecting non-16 HPV genotypes, and increasing the threshold of Anyplex II HPV28 improved specificity for concurrent HSIL detection.

HPV status and HPV16 viral load in anal cancer and its association with clinical outcome

Daniel Guerendiain et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the influence of HPV status and HPV16 viral load on the clinical outcomes of anal cancer patients. The results showed that HPV positive status was associated with improved overall survival, and high viral load was also associated with better overall survival. Therefore, assessing HPV status and viral load may be helpful for risk stratification in anal cancer patients.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Prevalence of human papillomavirus in young men who have sex with men after the implementation of gender-neutral HPV vaccination: a repeated cross-sectional study

Eric P. F. Chow et al.

Summary: This study investigated the HPV prevalence in young MSM before and after the implementation of a school-based quadrivalent HPV vaccination programme for boys in Australia in 2013. The findings showed a reduction in anal, penile, and oral quadrivalent vaccine-targeted genotypes in young MSM following the implementation of the vaccination programme, potentially leading to a decrease in the incidence of anal cancer.

Evaluation of the Roche MagNA Pure 96 nucleic acid extraction platform for the Seegene Anyplex II HPV28 detection assay

S. Atchison et al.

Summary: The study validated the Roche MP96 nucleic acid extraction platform for Seegene Anyplex II HPV28 detection. The MP96 showed high concordance with STARlet, with higher analytical sensitivity on the Anyplex28. Increasing DNA concentration improved analytical sensitivity, especially for prevalence studies.

Kaliff Malin et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the use of the ddPCR system for HPV genotype VL analysis and found no difference in VL between tumors with multiple and single genotype infections. Tumors from women aged 60 years or older or containing certain HPV genotypes and genera were associated with a higher VL.

Detection and quantification of bovine papillomavirus DNA by digital droplet PCR in sheep blood

Sante Roperto et al.

Summary: Highly pathogenic bovine papillomaviruses (BPVs) were detected and quantified for the first time in 103 clinically healthy sheep using digital droplet polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) liquid biopsy. The study identified different genotypes of BPVs and their prevalence, with some genotypes being more common in certain geographical areas. The findings also highlighted the utility of ddPCR in accurate detection and quantification of BPVs compared to conventional qPCR methods, emphasizing its importance for diagnostic and epidemiological purposes, as well as for understanding cross-species transmission in animal husbandry practices.

Human papillomavirus prevalence and risk factors among Australian women 9-12 years after vaccine program introduction

Hannah Shilling et al.

Summary: The study found that in Australia, widespread uptake of the quadrivalent HPV vaccine has significantly reduced the prevalence of quadrivalent vaccine-targeted HPV genotypes in women aged 18-35. Vaccination has a big impact on HPV infection, but unvaccinated women have higher prevalence of other HPV types, influenced by factors such as age and number of sexual partners.
