The impact of employment stress on college students: psychological well-being during COVID-19 pandemic in China

Summary: College students in China are facing unprecedented difficulties in employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to high unemployment rates and resulting in mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. This study aimed to examine the impact of employment stress on college students' psychological well-being during this time. A total of 2,627 final year college students participated in an online survey, showing moderate levels of employment stress and anxiety. Around 13.2% of participants experienced depression, and 53.3% deemed the current employment situation severe. Factors such as gender, university type, and individual stress were found to predict college students' psychological well-being. The government should prioritize the psychological well-being of graduate students and implement effective measures to help them secure employment.

How Degree Major and Demographic Factors Influence Employment and Earnings for College Graduates With Visual Impairments

Summary: The purpose of the study was to investigate the predictors of employment and earnings for visually impaired college graduates, focusing on the impact of college degree majors. Regression analyses were conducted using American Community Survey data, revealing that degree majors had limited influence on employment and earnings outcomes. Several majors, including Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Nursing, Accounting, and Finance, were associated with both employment and earnings. However, demographic factors such as age, gender, race, and receipt of Social Security benefits were stronger predictors of employment outcomes than degree major. These findings highlight the need for vocational rehabilitation counselors to inform visually impaired individuals pursuing a college degree about the differences in employment rates and earnings based on their chosen major.

The transition from higher education to first employment in Spain

Summary: This article examines the factors influencing the transition from higher education to employment in Spain, finding that men are more likely to find jobs than women and that graduates of private universities secure employment faster than those from public universities. It also reveals that graduates with prior work experience and those who start their job search before completing their degree program are more likely to find employment sooner. Furthermore, graduates in Arts and Humanities face the greatest difficulty in finding work. The study suggests that international experience and expertise in communication increase the likelihood of employment for graduates.
