Chemical and Biological Leaching of Chalcopyrite- Elemental Sulfur Reaction Products

Leticia Maria de Melo Silva Cheloni et al.

Summary: Chalcopyrite ores are difficult to process using current hydrometallurgical techniques, so pyrometallurgical techniques are mainly used. To improve metal dissolution, sulfurization may be applied as a pretreatment step. This study investigated the reaction products of chalcopyrite and elemental sulfur at different ratios, reaction times, and temperatures. The sulfurization products were then subjected to chemical leaching and bioleaching tests. The results showed that sulfurization at 450°C transformed chalcopyrite into a bornite-like phase, which could be leached chemically and bioleached.

Influence of grinding conditions on the pulp chemistry and flotation of oxidised pyrite

Shihong Xu et al.

Summary: This paper studied the influence of grinding conditions on the pulp chemistry of oxidised pyrite and its subsequent flotation behavior. The results showed that both the surface chemistry of the pyrite particles and the pulp chemistry of the discharge had a significant impact on the flotation recovery of the ground samples, and different grinding conditions led to variations in these chemical properties.

Flotation performance of chalcopyrite in the presence of an elevated pyrite proportion

Richard Li Jie Lee et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of pyrite proportion on chalcopyrite and pyrite flotation and found that the introduction of pyrite decreased Cu grade and Cu recovery, but Cu recovery could be restored with a higher pyrite proportion. Electrochemical studies revealed that the galvanic interaction between chalcopyrite and pyrite played a role in controlling flotation behaviors by affecting chalcopyrite oxidation and copper activation on pyrite.

In-Situ Probing the Interface Electrochemical Properties of Chalcopyrite Modified by Amidoxime-Dithiocarbamate Ester: Implications to Flotation Mechanism

Jingjing Xiao et al.

Summary: In this study, the interface electrical behavior of chalcopyrite was investigated using in situ scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM). The results showed that the treatment of DEAHEDTC significantly reduced the electrochemical activity of chalcopyrite, leading to a higher flotation recovery of chalcopyrite particles.

Potentiodynamic polarization curves of AA7075 at high scan rates interpreted using the high field model

Hu Zhou et al.

Summary: The drastic distortion of potentiodynamic polarization curves at high scan rates makes it difficult to extract accurate kinetic parameters. Contrary to previous studies, the high field model successfully explains the features of experimental curves and the changing kinetics with scan rates, electrolytes, and measurement locations.

Comparing lead and copper activation on pyrite with different degrees of surface oxidation

Xiaoxia Yang et al.

Summary: Copper ions and lead ions show different activation effects on pyrite with different degrees of oxidation, with lead ions performing better in activating severely oxidized pyrite, while copper ions being more effective in moderately oxidized pyrite. The difference in behavior is attributed to the species adsorbed on the pyrite surface.
