Effect of electroflotation on quartz and magnetite and its utilization on the reverse flotation of magnetic separation concentrate

An Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, electroflotation of quartz and magnetite with different collectors was investigated to understand the process and identify methods to improve it. The results showed changes in the active collecting species leading to promotion or inhibition of flotation. Electroflotation was found to have advantages in reverse flotation of magnetite, making it an effective process.

Understanding the activation mechanism of Ca2+ ion in sodium oleate flotation of spodumene: A new perspective

Jiande Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, the activation mechanism of Ca2+ for spodumene flotation with NaOL was explored, showing that Ca2+ and NaOL first formed colloidal complexes in solution and then firmly adsorbed on the spodumene surface which made it hydrophobic and float up. This discovery is an extension and enrichment of the classical activation theory, providing new insights into the understanding of the activation mechanism.

New perspectives in iron ore flotation: Use of collector reagents without depressants in reverse cationic flotation of quartz

Klaydison Silva et al.

Summary: A new amidoamine collector N-[3-(Dimethylamino)propyl]dodecanamide has been proposed for the reverse flotation of iron ore, showing significant selectivity towards quartz while having less impact on hematite and kaolinite. Surface hindrance effect caused by the structure of the collector on the hematite surface is the most suitable hypothesis for explaining the high selectivity in the iron ore reverse flotation process.
