Second-order transient-extracting S transform for fault feature extraction in rolling bearings

Yi Liu et al.

Summary: Intelligent fault diagnosis methods are effective in ensuring the safety and reliability of key parts of rotating machinery. However, the lack of data during equipment acceptance period and the assumption of high data quality affect the reliability of results. To address these issues, a time-frequency-based method is introduced to analyze impulse components based on fault features. An accurate time-frequency analysis method named the second-order transient-extracting S-transform is proposed to overcome the influence of uncertain parameters. It produces a highly concentrated time-frequency representation and demonstrates higher accuracy in feature detection compared to other methods.

Multi-sensor data fusion for rotating machinery fault detection using improved cyclic spectral covariance matrix and motor current signal analysis

Junchao Guo et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel method for rotating machinery fault detection, which achieves multi-sensor data fusion using improved cyclic spectral covariance matrix (ICSCM) and motor current signal analysis. The proposed method adaptively acquires multi-sensor mode components and constructs ICSCM using sample entropy to preserve the interaction relationship between different sensors. The ICSCM is then incorporated into an extreme learning machine classifier for fault type identification. The proposed method has achieved satisfactory results and more reliable diagnosis accuracy than other state-of-the-art algorithms in rotating machinery fault detection.

A physics-informed feature weighting method for bearing fault diagnostics

Hao Lu et al.

Summary: Intelligent bearing diagnostics have become increasingly popular in recent years. However, most diagnostic methods are developed under the assumption that training and test data sets are collected under the same working conditions, which is rarely the case in practice. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a physics-informed feature weighting method for bearing diagnostics. First, a signal processing step is used to extract discriminative features robust to bearing speed variation. Then, a novel feature weighting layer assigns higher weights to features closer to bearing fault characteristic frequencies. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through experiments on three bearing datasets, showing promise for bearing fault diagnostics under different operating conditions.

Adaptive k-Sparsity-Based Weighted Lasso for Bearing Fault Detection

Yuanhang Sun et al.

Summary: In this paper, an adaptive k-sparsity-based weighted Lasso method is proposed to extract fault features from vibration signals for bearing fault diagnosis. The method utilizes a weighted l(1)-norm sparse regularization term and an adaptive parameter setup based on the integration of k-sparsity and forward-backward splitting algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method is more effective in extracting fault features from noisy vibration signals compared to other conventional methods.
