Simultaneous mapping of buoyancy-induced flow and temperature fields using thermographic PIV

Summary: This study presents one of the first experimental investigations on thermographic PIV (or LIP/PIV) for simultaneous mapping of whole field temperature and velocity data in the context of natural convection. The results obtained from LIP/PIV are validated by comparing them with numerically simulated and interferometry-based whole field data. The significance of this study lies in its successful capture of the flow physics associated with buoyancy-driven convective phenomena using a single imaging technique instead of separate optical diagnostics.

Heat transfer enhancement in the novel wavy shaped heat exchanger channel with cylindrical vortex generators

Summary: This study experimentally and numerically investigated the enhancement of heat transfer and the decrease of pressure drop in a wavy shaped heated channel with cylindrical vortex generators. The holographic interferometry method was used to visualize the temperature distribution, and the Ansys Fluent software was used for the evaluation of temperature, velocity, and pressure fields. The results showed that inserting the cylindrical vortex generators at position 2 of the wavy channel led to the highest thermal performance factor of 0.8167.

Numerical investigation of impingement heat transfer on the crossflow channel with vortex generators

Summary: This study compares the heat transfer performance of different VGs configurations through numerical simulations, finding that the downstream common-flow-down configuration of VGs can achieve favorable heat transfer enhancement.
