Tumor-derived exosomes induce immunosuppressive macrophages to foster intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma progression

Chubin Luo et al.

Summary: Macrophages in ICC tumor tissues upregulate PD-L1 expression, suppressing T-cell immunity and correlating with poor survival rates. Exosomal miR-183-5p from ICC cells inhibits PTEN expression in macrophages, leading to elevated AKT phosphorylation and PD-L1 expression, contributing to ICC progression. Plasma exosomal miR-183-5p levels are associated with poor prognosis in ICC patients.

Summary: PLCB1 acts as an oncogenic driver in cholangiocarcinoma development by activating the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway to induce EMT, and AKT inhibitors can be used as a therapeutic target to overcome chemotherapy resistance in CCA patients.

miR-182-5p contributes to radioresistance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma by regulating BNIP3 expression

Wei He et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the upregulation of miR-182-5p and downregulation of BNIP3 led to increased radioresistance in NPC cells. BNIP3 was identified as a target of miR-182-5p, and miR-182-5p reversed the inhibitory effect of BNIP3 in 5-8F-R cells. Cellular experiments showed that the upregulation of BNIP3 inhibited cell proliferation, viability, invasion, and migration, while promoting apoptosis in 5-8F-R cells, but these effects were attenuated by the simultaneous upregulation of miR-182-5p.

Cancer associated-fibroblast-derived exosomes in cancer progression

Summary: Research focuses on various cell types in the tumor microenvironment (TME), particularly on understanding the role of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in influencing the communication between cancer cells and other TME cells through the secretion of extracellular vesicles (exosomes). Studies have shown that CAFs play a significant role in tumor progression by remodeling the extracellular matrix, secreting factors, and exosomes.

WTD Attenuating Rheumatoid Arthritis via Suppressing Angiogenesis and Modulating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR/HIF-1α Pathway

Xin Ba et al.

Summary: Wutou Decoction (WTD) has shown to ameliorate symptoms and synovial pannus hyperplasia in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rats, inhibit proliferation, migration and invasion of MH7A cells, induce apoptosis, and block proangiogenic factors. The potential mechanism of WTD in inhibiting angiogenesis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is likely through the PI3K-AKT-mTOR-HIF-1 alpha pathway.
