Cancer risk assessment of exposure to asbestos during old building demolition

Reza Zandavar Javad Hesari et al.

Summary: This study aims to assess the concentration of asbestos exposure and estimate its cancer risk among old building demolition workers. The presence of asbestos in air samples collected from the demolition site was confirmed, with some workers being exposed to levels higher than the occupational exposure limit. The results of cancer risk estimation showed that the risk of cancer was considerable among the workers. Consequently, the implementation of asbestos risk management measures such as isolation of asbestos-containing materials, personal protective equipment, and the use of wet method during demolition could minimize asbestos exposure.

Hepatotoxic effects caused by simultaneous exposure to noise and toluene in New Zealand white rabbits: a biochemical and histopathological study

Amirreza Abouee-Mehrizi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the hepatotoxic effects of noise and toluene, as well as the simultaneous exposure to both substances, through histopathological and biochemical experiments. Non-simultaneous exposure to noise and toluene led to increased liver enzymes and certain serum levels, while simultaneous exposure resulted in further changes in enzyme levels and liver tissue damage.

Exposure to BTEX concentration and the related health risk assessment in printing and copying centers

Roohollah Rostami et al.

Summary: The study in Ardabil city of Iran investigated BTEX concentrations in printing and copying centers (PCCs) and found that the levels were lower than the occupational exposure limits. Factors such as type of printer, number of devices, and ventilation system significantly influenced BTEX concentrations. The study also revealed potential health risks associated with exposure to certain compounds in the indoor air of PCCs with inkjet printers.

A case study: Chemical health risk assessment in three footwear small industries in Bogor-Indonesia year 2019

Yenni Miranda Savira et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the health risks related to the use of chemicals among workers in small footwear factories in Ciornas, Bogor, Indonesia. The results showed moderate to high risks of chemical exposure through inhalation, leading to potential carcinogenic effects, while dermal exposure posed moderate risks causing skin and eye irritation. The conclusions highlighted significant risks of hazardous chemical exposure, specifically benzene and toluene, at glueing stations in Factory X, Y, and Z.
