Ga speciation and ethane dehydrogenation catalysis of Ga-CHA and MOR: Comparative investigation with Ga-MFI

Mengwen Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the Ga speciation and catalytic activity of Ga-exchanged CHA and MOR zeolites in ethane dehydrogenation. The results were compared to the highly efficient Ga-exchanged MFI zeolite. The study found that Ga-MOR exhibited high selectivity and durability, but lower conversion compared to Ga-MFI. The reasons for the better catalytic performance of Ga-MFI were discussed through kinetic studies and H-D exchange reactions.

Rigorous Oxidation State Assignments for Supported Ga-Containing Catalysts Using Theory-Informed X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy Signatures from Well-Defined Ga(I) and Ga(III) Compounds

Li Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the experimental characteristics of Ga(I) oxidation state were investigated by recording Ga K-edge X-ray absorption spectra for several well-defined molecular and crystalline Ga(I) compounds. Compared to trigonal Ga(III)-containing materials, Ga(I) spectra displayed a significantly more intense white line feature. Theoretical simulations confirmed this observation and revealed that the strong XANES intensity originated from transitions to several empty, nearly degenerate p-like states.

High-loading Ga-exchanged MFI zeolites as selective and coke-resistant catalysts for nonoxidative ethane dehydrogenation

Mengwen Huang et al.

Summary: This paper investigated the effects of different Ga species generated in Ga-MFIs on the catalytic activity for ethane dehydrogenation. The formation of [GaH2]+ ions under high loading and high-temperature treatment conditions was found to enhance the selectivity and durability of Ga-MFIs.

Highly Active and Selective Sites for Propane Dehydrogenation in Zeolite Ga-BEA

Lingli Ni et al.

Summary: A highly selective Ga-modified zeolite BEA has been successfully synthesized for propane dehydrogenation. The propane dehydrogenation rate is determined by different factors under different conditions. The active sites are identified as dehydrated and tetrahedrally coordinated Ga3+, and the selectivity towards aromatics is low.

Ga+-Chabazite Zeolite: A Highly Selective Catalyst for Nonoxidative Propane Dehydrogenation

Yong Yuan et al.

Summary: By studying the mechanism of Ga-chabazite zeolites in propane dehydrogenation, it is found that the extra-framework Ga+ sites are the active center catalyzing propane dehydrogenation, while the accumulation of polycyclic aromatics is the main cause of deactivation.

Direct Detection of Reactive Gallium-Hydride Species on the Ga2O3 Surface via Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy

Hongyu Chen et al.

Summary: This study reports the first direct and unambiguous NMR evidence of highly reactive surface gallium hydrides (Ga-H) over a practical Ga(2)O(3) catalyst during H2 activation. The spectroscopic effects of different isotopes of Ga on the 1H NMR signal are distinguished, allowing for the discrimination of Ga-H signal from other groups. The analysis also reveals the role of Ga-H species in catalytic reactions and provides insights for designing more efficient Ga-based catalysts.

Ga speciation in Ga/H-ZSM-5 by in-situ transmission FTIR spectroscopy

Yong Yuan et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the speciation of gallium in Ga/H-ZSM-5 using FTIR spectroscopy, revealing the existence of two different types of Ga species: isolated Ga+ and Ga+-H+ pair sites. These different species have distinct properties and may exhibit different catalytic activities in alkane dehydrogenation reactions.
