Prognostic Factors of Bone Metastases From Colorectal Cancer in the Era of Targeted Therapy

Yasunobu Kobayashi et al.

Summary: This retrospective study aimed to identify prognostic factors for bone metastases from colorectal cancer. The study found that age ≥70, absence of curative surgery as initial treatment, multiple bone metastases, albumin level <3.7 g/dL, CEA ≥30 ng/mL, and less than 3 chemotherapy options remaining at diagnosis were independent risk factors associated with poor prognosis. These results may aid in multidisciplinary decision-making for patients with bone metastases from colorectal cancer.

Survival outcome and prognostic factors for colorectal cancer with synchronous bone metastasis: a population-based study

Xiaofen Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the survival outcomes and prognostic factors of patients with synchronous bone metastatic colorectal cancer, identifying seven independent prognostic factors including histological type, differentiation grade, T stage of primary tumor, CEA level, systemic chemotherapy, combined with liver metastasis and combined with lung metastasis. A novel nomogram based on these factors showed good performance in predicting survival outcomes in both internal and external validation.

Nomogram for predicting overall survival in colorectal cancer with distant metastasis

Zheng Liu et al.

Summary: This study identified independent prognostic factors for colorectal cancer patients with distant metastasis and constructed a nomogram to predict patient survival. The predictive model showed satisfactory discrimination and calibration in both the construction and validation cohorts, providing valuable information for survival estimation and individualized treatment decisions.

Association of Bone Metastatic Burden With Survival Benefit From Prostate Radiotherapy in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Metastatic Prostate Cancer A Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial

Adnan Ali et al.

Summary: This study found that the number and location of bone metastases are associated with the survival benefit from prostate radiotherapy in men with low-burden metastatic prostate cancer. As the number of bone metastases increases, the survival benefit decreases gradually.

Outcome of surgical treatment for bone metastases caused by colorectal cancer

Martina Byttner et al.

Summary: The outcome of orthopedic surgery in patients with pathological fractures from colorectal cancer was generally poor, with a low survival rate. Patients with a single skeletal metastasis had a better overall survival. Post-operative complications were common, highlighting the need for high awareness of local complications.

Clinical Features and Serological Markers Risk Model Predicts Overall Survival in Patients Undergoing Breast Cancer and Bone Metastasis Surgeries

Haochen Mou et al.

Summary: The study aimed to identify clinical and laboratory prognosis factors in breast cancer patients with bone metastasis preoperatively, and develop a risk prediction model for 3-year postoperative survival. A prediction model was established with various factors, which had good fitting degree and could guide clinical decision-making.

Development and validation of risk and prognostic nomograms for bone metastases in Chinese advanced colorectal cancer patients

Nan Wang et al.

Summary: The developed and validated risk and prognostic nomograms showed good performance in predicting the occurrence of BM in mCRC as well as the prognosis of CRC patients with BM. The risk nomogram can be used as a cost-effective preliminary screening tool prior to bone scanning.
