Charge transfer band excited (Sr,Ba)2YTaO6:Eu3+ reddish-orange-emitting phosphors for luminescence lifetime thermometry and flexible anti-counterfeiting labels

Yongbin Hua et al.

Summary: Strong reddish-orange-emitting (Sr,Ba)(2)YTaO6:Eu3+ phosphors were synthesized via a facile solid-state reaction. The phosphors exhibited dominant D-5(0) -> F-7(1) magnetic dipole transition peak due to the occupation of Y3+ ions in high symmetry sites. Both Sr2YTaO6:Eu3+ and Ba2YTaO6:Eu3+ phosphors showed good thermal stability and quantum yield. The phosphors were also used to fabricate deep ultraviolet-excited flexible light-emitting films for anti-counterfeiting applications.

Raul Isaac Lopez-Esquivel et al.

Summary: In this study, we utilized 395 nm ultraviolet radiation to excite the matrix of barium hafnate doped with europium ions, resulting in the development of an optical temperature sensor. Luminescent analysis conducted within the physiological range revealed significant variations in luminescent intensity across all transitions. When the temperature of the material increased from 289.7 to 323.8 K, a relative sensitivity of 1574.3/T^2 was achieved. The 5D0 -> 7F2 transition exhibited the best temperature resolution (1.1 x 102 K).

Ligan Ma et al.

Summary: Nowadays, multi-mode luminescent thermometry has emerged as a strongly promising noncontact temperature-sensing technique. In this study, three-mode optical thermometry techniques were successfully designed using thermochromic Gd2GaSbO7 (GGS):Bi3+,Eu3+ phosphors. The GGS:Bi3+,Eu3+ phosphors showed remarkable variation in emission color with temperature, and the fluorescence intensity ratio of Bi3+ and Eu3+ provided outstanding relative sensitivity and temperature uncertainty. Efficient luminescence lifetime thermometry with enhanced Mn4+-activated BaLaCa1-xMgxSbO6 red phosphors

Guixian Li et al.

Summary: Introducing smaller Mg2+ ions to replace Ca2+ site in the BaLaCaSbO6 matrix leads to a significant enhancement in luminescence intensity, red-shift, and luminescence lifetime. These modulations are mainly attributed to the strengthen pressure on the local structure, superior lattice rigidity, and suppression of non-radiative transition after the substitution of smaller Mg2+. The effective lifetime-based luminescence thermometry is achieved due to thermal quenching behavior of Mn4+ ions in the matrix.
