Novel highly selective fluorescence sensing strategy for Mercury(II) in water based on nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots

Guiqiao Wang et al.

Summary: A fluorescent signal-closing probe based on nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (NCQDs) was developed for quantitative detection of mercury ions (Hg2+). The NCQDs showed high selectivity and excellent anti-interference ability, and the detection system had a linear relationship between fluorescence quenching efficiency and Hg2+ concentration. The detection limit was 0.9 μM.

Synthesis and characterization of novel blue-emitting nicotinamide-gold nanoclusters with chain-breaker antioxidant property

Gyongyi Gombar et al.

Summary: This paper demonstrates a simple and reproducible synthesis protocol to produce nicotinamide-stabilized gold nanoclusters (NAM-Au NCs) under mild conditions. The pH and the ligand to metal ion molar ratio are proven to play a dominant role in the formation of these fluorescent nanoclusters. The prepared NCs show blue emission and exhibit antioxidant activity, making them potential agents for biocatalytic reactions.
