Efficient frequency conversion and the crossing-pump effect of stimulated Raman scattering in an aqueous sodium sulfate solution

Yang Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, the cascaded stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) and the generation of the crossing-pump effect in an aqueous sodium sulfate solution were investigated. Interesting phenomena such as the formation of a new Raman peak and the enhancement of the four-wave mixing (FWM) process were observed using a dual sample cell device. The results of this study provide valuable insights for the establishment of laser frequency conversion devices using aqueous sodium sulfate solution as the Raman medium.

Study of hydrogen bonding interactions in ethylene glycol-water binary solutions by Raman spectroscopy

Ying Wang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the variations in hydrogen bonding interactions and conformations of EG-H2O binary solutions induced by EG volume fraction using Raman spectroscopy. Remarkable changes in hydrogen bonding networks were observed at a mixing volume ratio of 0.5, with water molecules' hydrogen bonds initially strengthening and then weakening with increasing EG concentration, leading to a shift in dominant association structure from H2O-H2O to EG-H2O in the binary solutions. This study presents a simple yet effective method for studying EG-H2O binary solutions, which shows promising potential and can be easily applied to other mixing scenarios.

Hydrogen Bonds: Raman Spectroscopic Study

Boris A. Kolesov

Summary: This work outlines general ideas on how the frequency and intensity of proton vibrations in X-H···Y hydrogen bonding evolve from weak to maximally strong bonding. Raman spectra of different chemical compounds with moderate, strong, and extremely strong hydrogen bonds were obtained in the temperature region of 5 K-300 K. The dependence of proton vibrational frequency on the rigidity of O-H···O bonding is discussed, along with considerations of proton dynamics on tautomeric O-H···O bonds. A brief description of N-H···O and C-H···Y hydrogen bonds is also provided.
