Synergistic Utilization of a CeO2-Anchored Bifunctionalized Metal-Organic Framework in a Polymer Nanocomposite toward Achieving High Power Density and Durability of PEMFC

Yuting Duan et al.

Summary: In this study, a CeO2-anchored bifunctionalized metal-organic framework (CeO2-MNCS) was prepared and used as a synergistic filler to modify the Nafion matrix. The hybrid membranes demonstrated high proton conductivity and durability, achieving a high power density and low OCV decay ratio. This study provides an effective strategy to develop highly durable proton exchange membranes without sacrificing proton conductivity.

Simultaneous improvement of proton conductivity and chemical stability of Nafion membranes via embedment of surface-modified ceria nanoparticles in membrane surface

Vu Dong Thuc et al.

Summary: Lab-synthesized ceria nanoparticles were surface-modified for proton conductivity, and embedded into Nafion membranes to enhance chemical stability and proton conductivity. The sandwiched structure membrane showed significantly improved durability and cell performance, with a maximum power density of 522 mW cm(-2), surpassing that of pristine and single-layer composite membranes.
