Extract of Polygala tenuifolia, Angelica tenuissima, and Dimocarpus longan Reduces Behavioral Defect and Enhances Autophagy in Experimental Models of Parkinson's Disease

Huan Li et al.

Summary: The study showed that WIN-1001X has therapeutic advantages in relieving Parkinsonism symptoms and protecting dopaminergic neurons. The positive regulation of autophagy by WIN-1001X may contribute to its neuroprotective effects in Parkinson's disease models. Onjisaponin B, identified as a major component of WIN-1001X, also exhibits autophagosome-inducing effects in human neuroblastoma cells.

Cylindromicin from Arctic-Derived Fungus Tolypocladium sp. SCSIO 40433

Imran Khan et al.

Summary: A fungus strain Tolypocladium cylindrosporum was isolated from an Arctic-derived glacier sediment sample, producing a new compound cylindromicin and seven known secondary metabolites. The chemical structures of these compounds were determined through comprehensive spectroscopic analyses. Cylindromicin exhibited significant tyrosinase inhibition activity, showcasing Polar fungi as a potential source for new bioactive natural products.

Identification, Characterization, and Evaluation of Nematophagous Fungal Species of Arthrobotrys and Tolypocladium for the Management of Meloidogyne incognita

Rami Kassam et al.

Summary: The two fungal species Arthrobotrys thaumasia and Tolypocladium cylindrosporum from Indian soils showed promising biocontrol potential against root-knot nematodes, reducing nematode disease burden significantly in greenhouse evaluations. The study also identified various volatile and non-volatile compounds with nematicidal activity in these fungi, indicating their potential as safe and effective alternatives for nematode management.

The intriguing chemistry and biology of sulfur-containing natural products from marine microorganisms (1987-2020)

Yang Hai et al.

Summary: Natural products derived from marine microorganisms containing sulfur have shown diverse biological activities and are considered a potential resource for drug discovery. A total of 484 sulfur-containing natural products were isolated from marine microorganisms, with the majority being thioethers, thiazole/thiazoline compounds, and sulfoxides, sulfones, and thioesters. Among them, 133 compounds were further discussed on their structure-activity relationships, mechanisms of action, biosynthesis, and druggability in this systematic review conducted from January 1987 to December 2020.
